Product Overview

The Crane (RMG) is a specialized container handling machine designed for yard operations. It travels on fixed rails under electric power and is equipped with a telescopic spreader for handling 20' or 40' containers, with twin-lift capability available. The RMG offers significant advantages, including clean electric operation, high lifting capacity, and fast travel speed with cargo.

Key Components & Mechanisms:
The crane is primarily composed of four integrated systems:

Lifting Mechanism: Typically a single-drum design (double-drum optional).

Trolley Traversing Mechanism: Features a circular trolley design for complex lifting points.

Gantry Travel Mechanism: Utilizes specially vacuum-cast wheels for durability.

Sway-Dampening Mechanism: Ensures stability and precision during operation.

Control & Operation:
The primary motions (lifting, trolley, and gantry travel) are equipped with AC variable frequency drive (VFD) control systems for smooth and precise movement. The entire crane integrates Schneider VFD speed regulation and a Siemens PLC control system. It also supports remote monitoring (RCMS) and remote operation functions from the control cabin.

Container Handling:
The crane is fitted with a high-precision telescopic spreader for efficiently handling ISO standard containers. A twin-lift spreader is available as an optional configuration.

Application Scenario

A Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) is a specialized material handling equipment used in ports , container terminals, and intermodal yards for efficient cargo movement. RMGs are designed specifically for handling containers and heavy loads, such as pallets and bulk materials. They are powered by electricity or diesel.

RMGs are commonly used for container loading and unloading , cargo transportation within a port or terminal, and container stacking in depots or yards. They are equipped with spreader or grab attachments for secure lifting and movement of containers or other types of freight.

Here are several application scenarios for a Rail Mounted Gantry Crane (RMG), also known as a Rail Mounted Container Gantry Crane.

1. High-Volume, High-Density Container Storage Yards
The primary application is in large, dedicated container storage blocks within port terminals or intermodal facilities. RMGs run on fixed, parallel rails, enabling them to stack containers in very long, uniform blocks with exceptional density (typically 6 containers wide and 4-6 high), maximizing land use in a highly systematic and automated manner.

2. Automated or Semi-Automated Container Terminals
RMGs are the cornerstone of automated container yards. They are ideally suited for computerized control systems (Automated Stacking Cranes - ASCs), allowing for unmanned, 24/7 operation. They receive, store, and deliver containers based on software instructions, interfacing with automated guided vehicles (AGVs) or automated lifting vehicles (ALVs).

3. Seamless Intermodal Interface between Rail and Ship
In ports with direct on-dock or adjacent rail terminals, RMGs efficiently straddle multiple rail tracks. They can directly load/unload containers from trains and transfer them to/from the storage stack or transport vehicles, creating a highly efficient and streamlined transfer corridor between vessel and hinterland rail network.

4. Dedicated Export/Import Stack Management
RMGs are exceptionally effective for managing dedicated stacks for specific vessels. Containers can be pre-stowed in the exact order of loading (by bay, row, and tier) along the crane's runway, allowing for a rapid, continuous loading sequence when the ship is alongside, significantly reducing vessel turnaround time.

5. Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Maintenance Depots
In facilities requiring systematic storage and handling for container inspection, maintenance, repair, or cargo stuffing/stripping, RMGs provide organized, high-bay storage. Their precise positioning is ideal for safely accessing specific containers within a dense block for ground-level work.
